About Electron Microscope Society of India (EMSI):
Electron Microscope Society of India (EMSI) was
established on December 2, 1961 at Saha Institute of
Nuclear Physics, Kolkata, West Bengal and the first conference of EMSI was
organized during December 2-3, 1961.
EMSI is affiliated to International
Federation of Society for Microscopy (IFSM) since 1962 as its 15th
member.
EMSI has since been involved in promoting electron microscopy in
various fields such as physics, chemistry, material science, metallurgy, life
science, engineering, medicine, forensic, geology etc. by organizing various
interactive events including workshops and conferences.
In 2012, EMSI evolved with a federal structure having five zonal chapters (Central, East, West, North and South),
in order to encourage activities at regional level. Every year, EMSI is conducting international conference organized by
one of the zonal chapters in rotation basis.
Statistically, it has been noticed that nearly 500 participants including 200 international delegates have been registered in recently conducted events. Also, each zonal chapter has started activities in the realm of electron microscopy by organizing symposia, workshops, conferences etc, in their own zones. The strength of EMSI has been increasing continuously. It has more than 2000 life members as on 2022.
